The BBC has got itself into another fine mess after making not one, but two PR cock-ups in short succession by failing to address the problems with its voting system to Strictly Come Dancing.
The Beeb has been inundated with more than 1,400 complaints from viewers angry at the way it turned the semi-final into a farce by allowing all three contestants through, only to make a similar shambles in the final.
Holby City actor Tom Chambers looked set to be eliminated from the semi-final after rivals Lisa Snowdon and Rachel Stevens were tied by the judges in first place, with Tom seemingly having no way of avoiding the dance off.
The decision to allow all three contestants through sparked the first wave of complaints from angry Strictly fans, only for the BBC to repeat the same staggering feat of incompetence in the final.
The final once again saw Lisa and Rachel tied first after the judges' scores. Yet the same inadequacies in the voting system failed to prevent Tom's elimination and he eventually emerged as winner.
After the public outcry following the semi-final, BBC bosses should've acted immediately to prevent a repeat of the fiasco and addressed public concerns about the lack of transparency in the voting system.
The corporation has since made a statement, which was long overdue, but by now many viewers will have had enough and will be put off from watching the next series.
