Confectionery maker, Cadbury, has stepped into a PR cowpat after deciding to tell customers the blindingly obvious- that its bars of Dairy Milk contain milk.
The company has started printing a warning on its Dairy Milk wrappers saying that the product contains milk, even though its name and familiar graphic showing a glass and a half of milk being poured into a square of chocolate could not express the message any more clearly.
The world's largest confectioner has now been left with egg on its face after failing to realise that the decision would make perfect fodder for the media to launch their latest campaign of ridicule.
Cadbury said that it was meeting legal requirements and wanted people to know that allergens were listed clearly.
But even a leading organisation that supports people suffering from severe allergic reactions agreed that the move was political correctness gone mad. Moira Austin of the Anaphylaxis Campaign admitted that it simply wasn't necessary to print these additional warnings.
And as if the company hadn't insulted the intelligence of its customers enough already, it has also added a warning to its Whole Nut bar telling customers it contains nuts.
