Guinness World Records has launched its own in house PR service to help people cash in on the marketing potential of their record breaking achievements.
The service will be available to event organisers, who request the attendance of a Guinness World Records adjudicator to evaluate their record attempt.
Guinness World Records said that it had seen a growing need for publicity support from claimants who realised the enormous marketing value in organising a record attempt, but lacked the right expertise to publicise it.
It added that the new service, which includes PR support such as release writing, distribution, pitching and press management, would use the organisation's fundamental understanding of the Guinness World Records brand to better position clients in the media.
A world record attempt has always been one of the best ways for any person or organisation to grab the global media spotlight, yet many miss out on the potential benefits that this media attention can bring.
So it comes as something of a surprise to many in the PR industry that Guinness World Records hadn't taken the opportunity to launch the service sooner.
