Award-winning journalist Harri Aston has joined the team at Octopus Public Relations.
Harri has been appointed account manager at the Stafford-based agency after leaving The Sentinel newspaper in Stoke-on-Trent.
The 27-year-old will work with clients including a charity, IT specialist, production company, education body and b-2-b firm.
He said: “I am delighted to be become part of the team at Octopus Public Relations.
“It gives me the opportunity to use my skills I developed as a journalist- writing and an awareness of the news agenda- for the benefit of Octopus and its clients.
“It is a fresh challenge that I am really looking forward to and hope to play a big part in the Octopus's continued success.”
Director Paul Kirby, who founded the business in 2004, said: “Harri brings an awareness of how news agendas work and what journalists look for when they receive press material.
“These skills are what we need as we grow the business and I am delighted to welcome Harri on board.”
Harri, who lives in Stoke-on-Trent, completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Newspaper Journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, Preston in 2003.
He joined The Sentinel as a reporter the same year. In 2005, he was named the paper's news reporter of the year, and went on to become a sub-editor in September 2006 before joining Octopus earlier this month.
